We believe that in order for an individual with alcohol or drug problems to find sobriety the following must be achieved:
Realize you have a problem
Understand the consequences caused by your drinking or drug-using behaviors
Identify and manage personal warning signs of relapse
Develop a sober support system
Learn to express your emotions in a healthy fashion
Establish a sober self-image
Rebuild trust and communication with those in your life
Accept responsibility for your life and reach out to those who can help you
To attain this end, our Recovery Program provides several different therapeutic approaches to educate the patient and allow the free processing of feelings in a nurturing environment. The various treatment modalities include individual, family, and couples counseling, group counseling, and educational groups. In addition, participation in 12-step programs such as Alcoholics Anonymous or Narcotics Anonymous greatly enhances the development of the foundation for long-term recovery.
We provide couples and family therapy in order to help examine how the family interacts and change relationship dynamics. Anger is prevalent with family members and is not easily resolved by the primary patient receiving their counseling. Behaviors have been modified for all parties in relationships to adapt to addictive or problematic behaviors and, therefore, have to be resolved. In counseling we provide guidance and understanding to overcome these issues.

We will address issues relating to understanding the addictions of our loved ones, stopping our transition to new and other compulsive behaviors, setting healthy boundaries, increasing self-esteem, stopping relapse behaviors, and addressing trauma.
The program will run for 8 weeks, depending on the person’s needs, to develop a healthy lifestyle. Sessions will be for 2-3 hours, 2 nights or days per week, depending on the attendees’ schedules. One individual session will be provided each week, and therapeutic assignments will help us learn how to overcome and thrive.
Facilitators and special guests will be professionals in San Antonio who have at least 10 years of experience in the field and understand the need for family recovery. Since enabling behaviors invade every aspect of our being, the healing approach will be holistic, addressing how we think, how we feel, act, who we interact with, and what we do.

Many Christians struggle with chemical dependency. Rejection and shame often keep them from reaching out for help. We recognize addiction as a serious disease that affects the mind, body, and spirit, rather than moral inadequacy. For those who desire to incorporate their Christian faith into their recovery, group and individual counseling is provided which includes recognition of the transforming power of the Holy Spirit.
These special counseling groups explore Biblical scripture and the relationship to the Twelve Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous, the spiritual nature of human relationships, the importance of forgiveness in healing, and other essential components of spirituality in recovery. Gaining insight about the important aspects of recovery and learning how it interrelates with Christian faith, helps recovering Christians experience renewed hope through their core beliefs.
All the prophets testify about Him that everyone who believes in Him receives forgiveness of sins through His name. Acts 10:43
If you have a problem with an addiction, please call. You can stop on your own, but you will only be addressing the physical. You need to learn to deal with emotions, thoughts and reconnect spiritually through a fellowship and get the help you need. If it was as simple as accepting Christ as our Savior, everyone would be sober. There would be no addicts or alcoholics in the church. We are part of the body, part of a fellowship of God’s children. There is a solution and we want to help. Don’t struggle alone anymore. Let us help you find the answer with a proven solution that works.
Persons are codependent because they protect addicts from the consequences of their behavior. By doing this, the addict is unable to learn where the addiction can take them. He has not had to face life in the streets or the loss of his family. These addicts are loved by their parents, significant others and children who do not want to lose them to disease, homelessness and, possibly, death. Loved ones want peace in the relationships, don’t want anger, and are blamed for the addict’s problems, experience guilt and low self-esteem which cause them to try to help the addicts even more. The irony is their love and behavior towards him could lead to the very consequences they fear. Therefore, the way they protect and nurture the addict also nurtures the addiction. This is codependency. Loving someone so much we literally love them to death.

We recognize relapse as a symptom of the disease of chemical dependency and focus on relapse prevention for our clients. For those who have experienced recovery and have then relapsed, we have a special treatment program.
We develop a program specifically for the individual who has experienced recovery and then relapsed. We provide specialized education and process groups, which focus on the specific, problematic issues the relapse patient is presenting.
Many who have been in treatment before and have been successful in recovery are well versed in the various educational topics presented to the patient population. Consequently, they participate in relapse education classes. These classes are based on Terence Gorski’s Developmental Model of Recovery and Relapse. Patients learn to identify mistaken beliefs about relapse, personal recovery ‘stuck points,’ relapse justifications and relapse warning signs.
In process groups, those who have relapsed are able to explore thoughts, feelings and behaviors that contributed to their relapse and identify future relapse threats. They also work through the shame, guilt and fear associated with having been on the road of recovery and failed.
All of our clients are encouraged to work twelve step programs. We have found many of our relapse patients have lost their focus on the Steps prior to relapsing. We continually emphasize step work and assist these patients in moving beyond their previous stuck points. They also develop continuing care plans and are encouraged to find counselors and 12-Step sponsors who are compatible with relapse prevention concepts. Each patient leaves treatment with a detailed recovery plan. Families are strongly encouraged to participate throughout the entire process and start working on their healing.
